T21-1 Stimulus

What has Changed?

We hear so much about changes today, that most of the one-liners have become clichés, but despite the many calls to adapt to changes, changes in many education systems are not keeping up with the changes in society. Watch the following short video clips which provide a summary of changes that schools need to respond to. The first clip was produced in the European Union and the second in Australia, but the messages would not be very different if it was produced in Canada, the USA, or Singapore. (If the video is not embedded below, use this link.)

Clearly the workplace is changing but what about our students? How are they different to previous generations of students?

So what has changed, that really matters? Are we seeing another fad, a pendulum swing or is there a permanent change happening here? Watch the following presentations. They are 45 minutes each.
Friedman, T. (2007) The World is Flat
Pesce, M. (2008) Those Wacky Kids
