T21-2 Blog

This weeks Stimulus material presented some contrasts. For your next blog post, write a response that addresses the following questions, but please integrate your response rather than making it a question and answer session. Jay Matthews referred to 21st century skills as “The Latest Doomed Pedagogical Fad.” Is this just an attention-getting headline or does he have a valid point? Is he missing the point, perhaps? Explain your view of 21st century skills.

• As mentioned last week, rather than summarizing the stimulus material, respond to a selection of ideas and try and relate it to your teaching context.
• Write your blog so it would still make sense to someone who is not doing this class.
• Aim for 400 - 600 words but do not feel bound by this. Longer posts are fine, but we are mindful that teachers are busy people.
• When you have finished your blog post, copy the address and include it in a message in the Week 2 blog forum.

• Once again, provide feedback on at least two other blog posts, by creating a reply in the blog forum.
• We're looking for a quality conversation here - more than a simple 'I agree'.

  • That you were surprised at?
  • Do you see the same thing (or something completely different) happening in your classroom?
  • Were you confused by their idea(s)?
