To obtain educational value from a game, it is important to have a purpose and to plan the lesson to achieve that purpose. Without this, the time spent on the game could be just entertainment. Some proponents of educational games may not agree with this approach, but teachers know that students do not automatically transfer knowledge from one context to another.
Your Assignment
- Choose a game that fits our level 2 or 3 and give a brief description of the game. Some of the links in this week's management section may help you find a suitable game but there is no obligation to choose a game from these lists.
- Plan a lesson (or a short series of lessons) to capitalise on the learning from that game. Make sure you state the purpose and if possible, include a link that would enable others to see the game.
- Include these items in a blog post and then post a message in the Implementation Forum with a link to the blog post.
- Respond to the contributions of at least two other course participants.
